Goodbye, David Bowie

Amos:

Goodbye, DB. You will always be my greatest…

I first discovered David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King in Labyrinth back in the day. That film, oh that film… It is still one of my favourites to this day. The song ‘As the World Falls Down’ still brings tears to my ears, makes me glow on the inside with a powerful warmth. Simply magical.

But it was some years later that I truly discovered my favourite musician of all time in all his musical glory. It was through the album Heathen. I was looking at it in a shop, I remember, thinking that I would absolutely love to give this album a go. So I got it and fell in love instantly when the opening track ‘Sunday’ started to play. That was it, I was completely hooked. Then came the song ‘Slip Away’ and I was so deeply in love. That was the beginning of what is my eternal adoration for the greatness that was, and always will be, David Bowie. He will always be my greatest. Always. He was my idol, and will continue to be so. His music sends chills down my spine, makes me feel on top of the world, makes me think, and also breaks my heart.

I keep playing the album Blackstar over and over again. I can’t believe he’s gone. Last week, as it approached the release day for the album, I was so excited. Then two days later the world said goodbye to the Starman. I just can’t believe it. But he will be eternal, and his music will live on for all time.

Goodnight, David. Thanks for all the masterpieces.
