What does this SNAP Summary Include? - Synopsis of the original book - Key takeaways from each chapter - The key principles of persuasion - How to connect and persuade like a top-rated attorney - Editorial Review - Background on Trey Gowdy About the Original Book: The traditional way to persuade, Gowdy writes, is to present a logical argument and defend it with declarations of facts. This approach often works, but it is not very effective because it is essentially a monologue, and people don’t respond too well to being told what to do or believe. A better way to persuade is to determine your objective, get your facts straight, figure out your audience, and ask it the right questions at the right time. Drawing from his experiences as a prosecutor and congressman, Gowdy shows how this deceptively simple approach can be used to communicate effectively, connect deeply, and persuade convincingly. Readers who wish to become effective advocates for themselves and others will find Doesn’t Hurt to Ask an invaluable resource. Summary of Doesn't Hurt to Ask One of the most critical skills a prosecutor can have in a courtroom is the ability to persuade. Every prosecutor knows that if they cannot persuade a jury of their client's guilt, they will never get the sentence they want. To persuade, someone must possess a few skills. The first thing they must do is know their jury. They must know any biases their jury may have, and they must know how their jury thinks. Without being able to meet the jury where they are, a prosecutor will not be very convincing. The second thing they must do is learn to listen. Listening effectively gets to know a jury, but it also helps a prosecutor ask questions. Every good prosecutor has mastered the skills of when to ask leading vs. non-leading questions. Third, a prosecutor must have strong facts and solid evidence to reach their conclusions, and they must not impede their credibility by misrepresenting facts. Fourth, when talking to witnesses, a prosecutor must seek to either undermine their credibility or build it up. By asking the right questions and presenting the correct facts, they can do this. A great prosecutor will subtly do all of these things, treating persuasion like a process rather than a momentary battle. Real persuasion is done by getting to know others and incrementally persuading them, a skill that Gowdy teaches every reader how to possess in this book. #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Former congressman and prosecutor Trey Gowdy teaches you how to effectively communicate and persuade on the issues that matter most to you, drawing on his experience in the courtroom and the halls of Congress. “A must-read for people who want to learn how best to succeed.”—Dana Perino, Fox News host and bestselling author of Everything Will Be Okay You do not need to be in a courtroom to advocate for others. You do not need to be in Congress to champion a cause. From the boardroom to the kitchen table, opportunities to make your case abound, and Doesn’t Hurt to Ask shows you how to seize them. By blending gripping case studies from nearly two decades in a courtroom and four terms in national politics with personal stories and practical advice, Trey Gowdy walks you through the tools and the mindset needed to effectively communicate your message. Along the way, Gowdy reflects on the moments in his life when he learned the most about how to argue and convince. He recounts his missteps during his first murder trial, the conversation that changed his view on criminal justice reform, and what he learned while questioning James Comey and Secretary Hillary Clinton. Sharing the techniques he perfected advocating in law and politics, Gowdy helps you identify your objective, understand your personal jury, and engage in the art of questioning so you can be heard, be understood, and, ultimately, move others. Whether it’s getting a boss to take a chance on your idea, convincing someone to support your cause, or urging a child to invest more effort in an important task, movement requires persuasion. Doesn’t Hurt to Ask shows you how to persuade, no matter the jury and no matter the cause.

The publication of Robinson Crusoe in London in 1719 marked the arrival of a revolutionary art form: the novel. British writers were prominent in shaping the new type of storytelling - one which reflected the experiences of ordinary people, with characters in whom readers could find not only an escape, but a deeper understanding of their own lives. But the novel was more than just a reflection of British life. As Sebastian Faulks explains in this engaging literary and social history, it also helped invent the British. By focusing not on writers but on the people they gave us, Faulks not only celebrates the recently neglected act of novelistic creation but shows how the most enduring fictional characters over the centuries have helped map the British psyche - through heroes from Tom Jones to Sherlock Holmes, lovers from Mr Darcy to Lady Chatterley, villains from Fagin to Barbara Covett and snobs from Emma Woodhouse to James Bond. Also included in this fantastic ebook package are four free classic novels: Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe: The legendary story of a marine adventurer shipwrecked on a desert island. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen: Accomplished Elizabeth Bennett must navigate a web of familial obligations and social expectations in this witty drama of friendship, rivalry, enmity and love. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens: Pip's life as an ordinary country boy is destined to be unexceptional until a chain of mysterious events lead him away from his humble origins and up the social ladder. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins: Marian and her sister Laura live a quiet life under their uncle's guardianship until Laura marries Sir Percival Glyde, a man of many secrets. Can she be protected from a mysterious and potentially fatal plot?

Hourglass Socioeconomics Volume 3: Global Interpretation steps into the realm of national involvement with foreign entities in twos, threes, fours and more. From economic partnership to armed conflict, a third person perspective of interaction through historical events measures the capacity a relationship between, or among, holds for the greater good or nefarity. To build a bridge, an alliance through economic partnership suspends expansions by cohesive principles if a successful relationship is maintained. Adhesive fundamentals arise when the band aid of cooperation is ripped off. Any matter of involvement is spun gravitationally toward equilibrium or armed conflict and determined by the genetic coding and accelerants of each nation or entity-mass in relativistic measure to another. A bridge between requires maintenance. Biology, cellular division, and replication open the topic of chain sequencing through time and space as historical events act to accelerate or manipulate mass-genetic coding to pull nations closer together in cohesion or drive them apart. In conflict, the focus is on proxy involvement in manipulative measures against a nation through proctor action. The Civil War, unrest in Africa, and war in the Middle East, among mentions of other large scale conflicts, act to set the stage in principality. NAFTA, CAFTA, the EU and the Asian Pacific Partnership draw lines into economic cooperation as humanity’s continued success or failure. And then, there are always Black Holes.
