The first four caliphs of Islam—Abu Bakr, Umar ibn al-Khattab, Uthman ibn Affan and Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with all of them, are known as ‘the rightly guided caliphs.’ These pious caliphs were among the closest Sahabah (Companions) of the Prophet Muhammad. Their lives are a source of inspiration and motivation for believers of all time. These caliphs, though the successive heads of a large empire, lived very simple lives, like ordinary men. Their exemplary conduct and high moral character are a shining example for us. We are hugely indebted to them for their sacrifice and dedication, which helped in the preservation of the Quran and the spread of Islam throughout the world. Of the Sahabah, the Prophet once said, “My Companions are like stars. If you follow any of them, you will be guided to the right path.” In the light of this saying of the Prophet, the stories of the Sahabah act as guidance and a source of spiritual uplift for all of us. We should draw lessons from their lives, so that we may be guided to the right path—the path that pleases the Almighty Allah.

Disse fromme kaliffer var nogle af de sahabah (trosfæller), der var tættest på Profeten Muhammad , må Allahs ypperste velsignelser og fred være med ham. Deres liv er en kilde til inspiration og motivation for troende gennem alle tider. Disse kaliffer levede et simpelt liv som almindelige mennesker, skønt de alle var den øverste leder i et mægtigt imperium. Deres eksemplariske adfærd og høje moralske karakter er lysende eksempler for os. Vi står i stor gæld til dem for deres opofrelse og hengivenhed, som har hjulpet os med at bevare Koranen og sprede Islams budskab ud i verden. Profetens sagde en gang om sine nære følgere: ”Mine følgesvende er som stjerne. Hvis I følger hvilken som helst af dem, er I på den rette vej.” I lyset af denne udtalelse af Profeten, kan fortællingerne om Sahabah fungere som en vejledning og en kilde til spirituel opløftelse for os alle. Vi bør drage lære fra deres liv, så vi kan blive ledt til – og ad - den rette vej. Den vej, som glæder Allah Den Almægtige.

Diese Kalifen, obwohl sie Oberhäupter eines grossen Reiches waren, lebten sehr einfach, wie gewöhnliche Menschen. Ihr beispielhaftes Verhalten und hochmoralischer Charakter sind leuchtendes Beispiel für uns. Wir stehen tief in ihrer Schuld wegen ihrer Opferbereitschaft und ihrer Hingabe, die zur Erhaltung des Korans und der Weiterverbreitung des Islams beitrug. Über die Sahabah sagte der Prophet einmal: „Meine Gefährten sind wie Sterne. Un jour, le Prophète dit à propos des compagnons : « Mes compagnons sont comme des étoiles. Si vous suivez l’un deux, vous serez guidés sur le droit chemin. » A la lumière de cette parole du Prophète, l’histoire des compagnons est un guide et une source d’élévation spirituelle pour nous tous. Nous devons tirer des leçons de leurs vies, afin que nous puissions être guidés sur le droit chemin, le chemin qui plaît à Dieu, le Tout-Puissant.
